What Are Refurbishment Surveys?
If you are planning to carry out any work on a site, a refurbishment survey is a legal requirement under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations. It finds and describes any asbestos present, and is fully intrusive, including destructive inspection where needed, so that no materials are missed.
Try to have the survey completed as early as you can, so that no asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) are damaged.
Some ACMs are categorised as licensed by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). If these are found, a mandatory 14-day notification period applies before any removal can start.
