Certain asbestos materials are categorised as licensed by the Health and Safety Executive, which means a mandatory 14-day notification period — alongside formal notification of the works — must pass before removal can start.
What the survey involves
This survey locates and describes, as far as reasonably practicable, all asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in the area where refurbishment will take place, or in the whole building if demolition is planned.
It is fully intrusive and involves destructive inspection where necessary, to gain access to all areas — including those that are difficult to reach.
